Tshepiso residents shut down K55 road

This comes after their shacks were flooded after heavy rains last week.  To show their frustration, residents dug a trench in the road and further  barricaded the road with rocks and burning tires.

SHARPEVILLE. – Motorists are urged to avoid the K55 road in Tshepiso Sharpeville, where residents of an informal settlement are currently protesting to be moved from their current residence to a new place.

This comes after their shacks were flooded after heavy rains last week.  To show their frustration, residents dug a trench in the road and further  barricaded the road with rocks and burning tires.

Residents have said that if nothing is done about their situation, they will keep the road barricaded until their demands are met. Motorists can make use of alternative routes. Police are on the scene.

This is an unfolding story.
