SEBOKENG.- The Sedibeng Visible Policing Unit of the South African Police Service (SAPS) has warned motorists coming from a watering hole popularly known as ‘Sgureng or ‘Ha Satane’ in Zone 10, Sebokeng to be careful of hijackers.
The unit said that a lot of vehicles especially in Evaton are hijacked from people coming from the place in Moshoeshoe Street, Zone 10 Extension 1 in the early hour of the morning.
“The modus operandi is that the drivers will be followed from the tavern in Moshoeshoe Street Zone 10 Sebokeng into Evaton and will be hijacked of their vehicles where they will be stopping to either urinate, at a stop-sign, when driving from one tavern to the other or when entering residential premises, on their driveways.”
The unit said that criminals that are hijacking the vehicles are armed to the fullest and that this may lead to fatal accidents.
“The community especially in and around Evaton is advised not to drive around at night or during the wee hours of the morning coming from taverns especially from *Sgureng /Ha Satane tavern. Members of the community are also advised to drive to the nearest police station whenever they are followed by suspicious vehicles.”
