Vaal’s very own Mathematician on the move

SHARPEVILLE.- Meet the 24-years-old, young, driven and passionate mathematician, Thato Louw also fondly known as “Prof”. Louw compiled and published two study guides of Mathematics and Physical Sciences with one of his academic mentors Dr. A Lemeko in 2019.
Louw was born and bred in Sharpeville and finished his matric at Thuto-Lore Comprehensive School, back in 2014. He is currently studying Bsc Financial Mathematics at North West University (NWU) in the Vaal Triangle Campus.
He defines himself as a person who has always loved mathematics and says that he discovered that he was mathematically talented at the age of 16, when he was doing grade 10. For the past 6 years Louw has been helping learners around his community with Mathematics and Sciences.
“I believe that my ability to help students who struggle with these subjects is all wrapped up in the jargon that I use to explain the concepts, skills and tips that I give them to tackle problems. With love, passion and dedication Mathematics just automatically becomes one of the easiest things that you will come across in life. My motive for compiling the study guides is to reach other students across South Africa.”
Louw has also started his own YouTube channel named Edification Renders TV and he has one of the shows within the channel called EduAcademy. This is where he goes through the problems and concepts that are in his study guides, while also making use of the previous question papers for examination preparation purposes.
This year he is aiming at inviting guest who are PhD graduates, as well as some of his university lectures to his studio to record some episodes with him.
