Covid-19: 10 000 field workers to conduct mass screening and testing programme across the country

Ramaphosa stated  that SA had now recorded three deaths arising from the Covid-19 pandemic with the number of confirmed cases rising to 1326.

The President of South Africa (SA) Cyril Ramaphosa during his address to South African citizens this evening, announced a mass screening and testing programme which will take place across the country.

Ramaphosa said that the health service would be rolled out by some 10 000 field workers who would also be visiting homes.

Ramaphosa stated  that SA had now recorded three deaths arising from the Covid-19 pandemic with the number of confirmed cases rising to 1326.

He acknowledged that the next 17 days are going to be crucial, adding that the government is working on finding relief for those who were vulnerable the most.

“We are concerned about those who have not yet appreciated the seriousness of the desease. I am calling on each and every South African to stay at home for the next 17 days.” Ramaphosa added.
