Lockdown to affect team’s momentum

Coaches are worried that this lockdown is going to affect the momentum or their teams in the various sporting codes.

They believe this will hamper their progress when they resume with their leagues programme. VUT Ladies FC coach, Mvula Tshabalala told Sedibeng Ster Sport that his team was making  progress before this lockdown. However, Tshabalala said that he understands the situation and that teams must comply to save the lives of the people especially the players since football is a contact sport. The lockdown will take 21 days but it is not clear what is going to happen after taking into consideration the statistics of this virus. VUT Ladies FC played their Sasol Women League last game against Home Sweepers Ladies FC at Isak Styl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark before the lockdown. “As coaches we are worried about the fitness of our players. Even though we gave them training programmes it is not enough because football is a team sport and not individual sport. But we understand the situation and we have no choice but to comply. My team was starting to make progress and now this,” he said.
