Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Thema revealed that they will give the teams’ managers a green light when they will resume with the league programme.
Thema didn’t entertain suggestions that the teams that are on top of the log in the respective age groups will be handed the league title on silver platter. He said this is development league and the league will play to finish. This was after the suggestions that the clubs that are at the top of the log in their respective leagues must be handed the trophies.
“We will convey an urgent meeting on social media platforms to communicate the date. The aim is to conclude the league before recess, he said.
Asked what is his message to the teams’ managers, Thema said coaches and managers must encourage players to stay at home and not play in the streets. He said it is always tempting for players to want to play in the street but that is a serious contravention of the disaster management act.
He advised coaches to send players daily training exercises and ensure that they keep them motivated.
Thema told Sedibeng Ster Sport that it is important to also encourage youngsters to catch up with their school work, the academic calendar will be very short after this lockdown.
