There is also the Pooe Easter Soccer Tournament that takes place at the Beheman Rovers ground in Evaton around this time.
However, this time around local soccer fans will spend their Easter holidays indoors because of the COVID-19 pandemic. These above mentioned popularlocal soccer tournaments attract even some of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) soccer stars. April ‘Thina’ Mofokeng who is one of the people who are passionate about ‘kasi’ (township) football believes football is going to struggle to attract children at grassroots level after this lockdown.
“I’m afraid our beautiful game is not going to be the same after all this because parents will be concerned with their children’s education. I foresee a serious problem here unless Safa come up with a strategy because this is going to affect their regional development leagues,” he told Sedibeng Ster Sport.
