No Easter soccer tournaments taking place this year

SEDIBENG.- With South African President Cyril Ramaphosa having extended the lockdown with two weeks, this year local football fans will not flock to the township's dusty soccer ground to watch football.

Normally, at this time of the year there are soccer tournaments that take place in this country.
For example, back here home at this time of the year, there is a UK Easter Soccer Tournament that takes place at the UK soccer ground in Zone7, Sebokeng.
There is also the Pooe Easter Soccer Tournament that takes place at the Beheman Rovers  ground in Evaton around this time.
However, this time around local soccer fans will spend their Easter holidays indoors because of  the COVID-19 pandemic. These above mentioned popularlocal soccer tournaments attract even some of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) soccer stars.  Speaking Sedibeng Ster Sport via social media platforms some of the soccer fans are of the opinion that football will never be the same after this lockdown.
April ‘Thina’ Mofokeng who is one of the people who are passionate about ‘kasi’ (township) football believes football is going to struggle to attract children at grassroots level after this lockdown.
“I’m afraid our beautiful game is not going to be the same after all this because parents will be concerned with their children’s education. I foresee a serious problem here unless Safa come up with a strategy because this is going to affect their regional development leagues,” he told Sedibeng Ster Sport.
