Pakistani national (50) arrested for unlicensed firearm

The suspect was arrested,  and charged with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. 

SEDIBENG.- The Sedibeng SAPS’ Tactical Task Team (Amaberete) arrested a 50-year-old Pakistani national for possession of an unlicensed firearm in UnitasPark, Vereeniging recently.

Police Spokesperson, Captain Aubrey Moopeloa, said that police received information about the suspect and upon searching his place in Bennie Osler Street, UnitasPark found the unlicensed 9mm Parabellum Taurus pistol including 40 ammunitions (bullets). The suspect was arrested,  and charged with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Meanwhile in another incident, Evaton Police Constables Mokoena, Jansen and Loggenberg chased a suspicious suspect around Zone 6 in Sebokeng during the week.

Whilst being chased the suspect dropped a suspicious object on the ground, and upon police investigating they realised that a 9mm pistol without magazine and ammunition (bullets) was dropped on the ground. The firearm was handed as abandoned property at Evaton SAPS and a Forensic investigation will be conducted.
