SEDIBENG.- The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Executive-Mayor, Gift Moerane has confirmed that a Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Sports, Recreation, Arts, Culture, Parks and Cemeteries, MMC Penny Sengoatsi, has tested positive for Covid-19.
Sengoatsi will be in self isolation for the next coming 14 days.
A statement issued by the ELM said that upon receiving these news, Moerane took an opportunity to wish all Covid-19 related patients, good health.
Moerane said in the statement that in his engagement with MMC Sengoatsi, this a personal experience that she allowed to be shared with the community.
“I got tested last week Wednesday with my whole family after discovering that my youngest sister who is soldier tested positive. Health care workers from Empilisweni were kind enough to come and test us. The rest of the family received their result on Sunday via sms as they all tested negative. I received a call from the Facility Manager who gave me the results and a prescription of medication.
I feel healthy and strong! My concern is that I don’t have any symptoms nor do I feel sick in anyway. I mean our people could be roaming the streets and feeling like me, not knowing they walking with the virus. My kids including my 7 month old are with my younger brother and his wife currently because I can’t take a chance with my kids. I’m in self isolation at home and will be testing again after 14 days.
I’m grateful for the helpful tips, especially from family, friends, colleagues and comrades. Some are a concoctions sound a bit funny but I guess we try everything to stay alive.
I encourage people to get tested so that they know as early as possible and have the chance to fight back” concluded Sengoatsi.
