Have the suspects been arrested?

Sedibeng Ster reported the incident last week, under the headline, “And they go off!”

VANDERBIJLPARK.– Impeccable sources have informed Sedibeng Ster that seven men have been arrested, following a cash-in-transit robbery that took place on the R553 behind Arcelor-Mittal in Vanderbijlpark, between 07:00 and 07:10 last Monday. Sedibeng Ster reported the incident last week, under the headline, “And they go off!” The sources said that two of the men, one believed to be a Nigerian and another a policeman, were arrested in Randontein, while the other five were arrested in Johannesburg. The heist took place when the cash-in-transit van was rammed off the road by the suspects’ Mercedes Benz. Consequently, the Mercedes burst into flames. The suspects abandoned the vehicle and escaped in other getaway cars. Three occupants of the cash-in-transit vehicle were rushed to hospital with severe injuries. Police at the scene recovered numerous spent shells implying that shots were fired. Police Provincial Spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Brenda Muriduli, has however, denied that any arrests have been made.
