Nine hour wait for emergency services

Community members said they had repeatedly called police and emergency services from 10:00 when the deceased was still alive without luck.

BOPHELONG. – Community members waited approximately nine hours for emergency services to arrive, following the discovery of a corpse in Muvhango Extension 16, Bophelong recently.

When the police arrived, they found that the corpse had emitted huge quantities of foam from the mouth. Members of the public had held an ‘informal vigil’ over the corpse from 10:00 am to 19:00 pm.
Community members said they had repeatedly called police and emergency services from 10:00 when the deceased was still alive without luck. The police have opened an inquest into the death of the deceased, 24-year-old Tshepiso Mthetwa, who had a backpack with him which the community believe indicates that he was looking for work in the area.

Mthetwa’s grandfather who arrived at the scene, Petrus Mthetwa, said that the deceased lived in nearby Stephanopark and was last seen on 31 August.

No one knows how he ended up in Bophelong.
