DWS in need of engineers in Emfuleni

The Creamer’s Engineering News reported that the Department of Water and Sanitation will be advertising 26 work packages with appointed contractors in the December festive season.

DWS is in a hurry to resolve the Vaal River’s Protracted sewerage pollution problems. In the 2020/21 financial year R1.2 billion has been earmarked for additional wastewater treatment capacity and associated pump stations.

In the case of Emfuleni there appears to be concerns about potential stoppages of projects as a result of community protests.
It could hamper work at the Sebokeng water care works before the end of the financial year, according to the DWS.
The industry news report accentuates DWS’s commitment to take all the necessary precautions to ensure that all procurement processes would be
compliant with Section 217 of the Constitution of South Africa. The call for competent contractors will be advertised in the Government Gazette,
according to Engineering News.
