Water action at Bass Lake

HENLEY-ON-KLIP. - Swimmers from all over Gauteng were welcomed by sunny weather as they took on the Virtual Midmar Mile Challenge on March 14 at Bass Lake.

In perfect conditions of crystal-clear flat water, swimmers enjoyed the opportunity to take on the 1,6km challenge hosted by Aquamania at Bass Lake Adventures and afterwards submit their swimming times to the Aquelle Midmar Mile race organisers.
The action started from 09:00. A rolling start was in place to adhere to strict COVID-19 regulations under the watchful eyes of lifesavers and support crew on kayaks.

After completing their swim, participants were treated to Aquelle water, energy bars, a gift from Head Swimwear and a scrumptious burger from Bass Lake Adventures restaurant.

“There were also lucky draw prizes in the form of swimming costumes and goggles, which encouraged some of the swimmers to try and improve their swimming times with their new swimming kit,” says Conrad Lamont of Aquamania.

Swimmers and their families enjoyed a lovely day out, some having picnics on the waterfront property.

“We would like to thank all our sponsors, Aquelle, Bass Lake Adventures, Danmik Power Generation, Ellispark Lifesaving club (Meyerton Branch), Head Swimming, Lifesavers, Security Mecca and all our volunteers that made the day successful,” concluded Conrad.
