Emfuleni Athletics Club young runner aims high
"I started to fall in love with athletics at the very young age because I was very active."

SHARPEVILLE.- Sharpeville is well known for producing household names when it comes to athletics. John Morapedi is one of the athletes who didn’t only put the area in the world but also South Africa. Young Mampho Chakache (14) is another up and coming athletes set to follow in the footsteps of Morapedi and other great athletes the area produced.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sports, this Emfuleni Athletics Club promising runner believes she has a potential to make a name for herself in athletes. She told Sedibeng Ster Sport that her dream is to represent her country in the international competition. She was hard at training at George Thabe Stadium together with her teammates recently. Her coach, Thabiso Moeketsi described Chakache as a talented individual who is ambitious. “I have no doubt that Mampho is going to conquer the world of athletics if her current performance is anything to go by. She is a hard working individual who is eager to learn more especially from her seniors and this shows how much she wantss this. She doesn’t talk too much but allows her magic feet to do talking and this what I like most about her.
Chakache told Sedibeng Ster Sport that her coaches are her inspiration because some of them are former athletes. “I’m lucky to be coached by them because they really push us very hard at training. I started to fall in love with athletics at the very young age because I was very active,” she concluded.
