VEREENIGING.- Provided that all goes according to plan, electricity at Peaceheaven near Vereeniging should soon. Peacehaven residents were promised this by Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Executive Mayor, Gift Moerane during a meeting recently.

This is after residents took to the streets to demonstrate their discontentment with the power outages currently affecting the area. Moerane was supported by the MMC for Basic Services Bheki Ntsele and other senior officials that gave a detailed update of work done to date to restore power supply. “Following a site inspection held on Thursday, 1 April 2021, the municipality has secured two service providers to restore the substation and replace damaged cables,” Moerane said. According to the municipality’s technicians, appointed service providers need a minimum of six weeks to complete all the work.
