Cllr Phillip Nothnagel of Emfuleni’s Ward 5, writes this open letter for the attention of Emfuleni’s Municipal Manager and Administrator:

Good morning MM and Administrator,

Please refer to my message regarding a stolen manhole cover at 8 Rembrandt Street SW 5.
I reported this problem on 24 April 2021 and the cover has still not been replaced despite the fact that you escalated the matter.
I placed a box on the hole to warn road users.
This is an extremely dangerous situation that must be rectified immediately.
The legal consequences if someone hits this hole and is injured or worse, is fatally injured, is incomprehensible.

PLEASE INSTRUCT THE DEPARMENT RESPONSIBLE TO REPLACE THE COVER URGENTLY.
