SEDIBENG.- Local netball teams were involved in  a two days festival netball tournament at Sharpeville and Zone 3 netball courts recently.

The tournament involved nine senior netball and eight junior netball teams playing in a point system.

The tournament will continue this coming weekend and is scheduled to take place at Mafatsane courts in Evaton on Saturday and Sunday. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Sedibeng Netball Federation Coordinator, Lebohang Mphuti said the tournament will play until July.

He said this festival tournament is part of the Sedibeng Netball Federation to revive netball in Emfuleni and Sedibeng.

“This initiative is to promote netball throughout Sedibeng playing in our communities. We want to see more boys and girls participating in netball in our communities not only in soccer. We are working very hard to revive this sport in our community and I must say I’m very happy with the response we get from the community,” said Mphuti
