Residents living in informal settlements around Kliprivier  have embarked on a service delivery protest.

The protest started early this morning with residents barricading the R59 and putting objects in the road.

Vaal Traffic reported that the R59 at R550 North was closed. The M61 and Joan Road was also closed.

Although police were able to disperse the crowd, protesters  told Sedibeng Ster  they will not back down until their demands are met.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution. Police are on the scene.
