Indibano Victim Empowerment Project and SAPS celebrate together

The community members were  engaged to explore their views.

BOPHELONG. – In celebrating Heritage day in style, Indibano Victim Empowerment Project, hosted their function at the Bophelong Community Hall on Friday.
The organisation joined forces with Vanderbijlpark SAPS and various stakeholders and held discussions where a few points were raised, such as awareness on Gender based violence. The community members were  engaged to explore their views.

Patricia Diatshwana, a Social Worker indicated that some cultural beliefs and practices may perpetuate GBV if viewed differently.
The practices may include forced marriages, the concept of provider or /household head, pregnancy as a prerequisite in a marriage.
The speakers empowered women to take up the space, follow their dreams and ultimately become financially independent.
