VUT players shine in Varsity Football

Charles "Shoes" Skosana was one of the players who was outstanding for VUT.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Although Vaal University Technikon (VUT) FC failed to qualify for the Varsity Football Semifinals there was a brilliant performance at display by its players. Charles “Shoes” Skosana was one of the players who was outstanding for VUT. His performance was rewarded with the FNB Man of the match twice against University Of Kwa-Zulu Natal and NWU Mafikeng respectively. This VUT Sports Management student was pulling all the strings in the middle of the park which saw him walk away with two FNB Player of the match awards. Thulani “Computer” Sibisi , is Varsity Football joint leading goal scorer with five goals. He scored a hattrick when VUT beat TUT 4-2. He might walk away with Varsity Football Top Goal Scorer award if those with whom he competes don’t overtake him. Abram Mayako was also awarded FNB Player of the match against University Of Free State. The Players of the match received R2 000 for their outstanding in courtesy of FNB. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, VUT Assistant Coach Pakiso “Vigo” Tjotjo said despite not having qualified for the top four it was a learning curve for the players and they represented the institution with destinction. “I must say this year’s tournament was highly contested but we made our presence felt. There is so much we learned from this tournament and it was a great experience for all of us”, he concluded.
