SEBOKENG.- This weekend saw positive developments in local football, with the Emfuleni Local Football Association (ELFA) announcing a sponsorship for the junior leagues at the Sebokeng Community Hall in Zone 14.
In addition to the development of soccer in the region, this was great news to see businesses investing in football development besides tournaments. This was made possible by Letsatsi Bakery and Nelkon Security Services.
The two companies committed themselves to sponsor the ELFA’s U/13 and U/17 leagues respectively in the upcoming season. In the new season, the U/17 league will be known as the Nelkon Security U/17 League while the U/13 league will be known as Letsatsi Bakery U/13 League. The ELFA Chairman, Jabu Mgcina, told Sedibeng Ster Sport that he was overwhelmed by this occasion which is a first of its kind to happen in local football. Mgcina said this milestone achievement has come at the right time as the association is preparing for Annual General Meeting (AGM) as well as the prize ceremony.
“It is moments like this when as a leader, I realise that football is a winner. It is not easy to have two companies committing to inject and contribute towards unearthed young talent, indeed this brings hope to the youth of Emfuleni and not only the football fraternity. “We as (ELFA) are so delighted and thankful to Nelkon Security Company and Letsatsi Bakery for their commitment in the development of football in the Emfuleni area,” he said.
Mgcina told Sedibeng Ster Sport that he hopes this will encourage more companies to invest in the development of football especially in different leagues.
