MIDVAAL.- Peter Teixeira was elected by the Midvaal Local Municipality Council as its Executive Mayor on Tuesday.
Teixeira, together with other councillors, were sworn in during the first Council meeting following the recent local government elections.

In addition, the following positions have been filled:
Municipal Speaker: Alan McLoughlin, DA Caucus Whip: Phil Pretorius.

The DA said that it wishes to thank the people of Midvaal who have trusted it with five more years to bring “good governance”. The party was able to increase support from 59% in 2016 to 63% in this year’s elections.

“Under a DA-led government, Midvaal has become the best-run municipality in Gauteng and amongst the top five in the whole country. We received seven consecutive clean audits and have the lowest unemployment rate in the province. We will continue to build on the good work we have done and commit to taking things to the next level to ensure that all residents continue to experience uninterrupted and quality service delivery.”
