Gauteng MEC joins GBV prayer in Orange Farm

Orange Farm. - Gauteng MEC for Community Safety Faith Mazibuko recently led a prayer for Gender Based Violence in Orange Farm.

Mazibuko was joined by scores of residents along with religious leader from the neighbourhood.

The prayer was held as a build up to the 16 days of Activism for no Violence against Women and Children campaign.

It was previously reported that several kids were found killed after they went missing in the area

Speaking at the event, Mazibuko said the area was one with a high number of crimes perpetrated against women and children.

“The organisers of the event believe that spiritual intervention is needed and that is how the prayer came about.”

Mazibuko urged women not to remain silent about abuse in their relationships and report any form of violence to their nearest police stations.

“Women please remain vigilant and never stay in a relationships just because you think you are loved by that only man. Look out for signs and leave relationships were you are abused while it’s still early,” she said.
