Mother, two children killed in Vanderbijlpark shooting

The baby and 11-year-old had been fatally injured and were declared dead on arrival by Provincial Services.

A 3-month-old baby girl and an 11-year-old girl have died in a shooting incident at a home in Bophelong, Vanderbijlpark on Friday night.

According to ER24 the mother also suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and is in a critical condition.

“A third girl of around 5 years of age survived unharmed under blankets on a stretcher bed in another room.”

ER24 paramedics were called to the scene by the South African Police Services at around 20:20 on Friday night.

The mother and baby were found together on a bed and the 11-year-old on another bed in the same room.

The baby and 11-year-old had been fatally injured and were declared dead on arrival by Provincial Services. The 30-year-old mother was in a critical condition and required Advanced Life Support interventions before being transported to a hospital for further care.

The South African Police Services were on the scene for investigations.
