VANDERBIJLPARK. – The school would like to thank Mica, Impala Nurseries and RJE Distributors for kindly donating the Spekboom saplings, compost and pots needed to make this project a reality.
This project forms part of the school’s 5-year Climate Action Plan to plant as many Spekboom in our local community as possible. It’s an attempt to combat climate change and to teach children how to take better care of our planet.
Sancta Maria Junior School was recently recognised as one of the top 250 schools of excellence globally in the Climate Action Project.
The school plans to run similar projects over the next five years to increase awareness of climate change and to reduce the negative effects of pollution by spreading carbon-dioxide hungry “greenery ” in our local communities.
“As teachers and parents, we are responsible for teaching our children how to tread more gently on the planet and create a sustainable future,” said Mrs Elizabeth Crots.
If any businesses or individuals would like to get involved in these projects, kindly contact the school at 016 933 4791 or via email at sanmaradmin@lantic.net.
