VEREENIGING. – Following a number of house robberies reported in Three Rivers, the police in Vereeniging urge members of the community to tighten security around their homes.

Police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda advices residents to keep all their doors and security doors closed at all times, even when they are home.

“The theft of motor vehicles is still rife in Three Rivers and  targeted makes are  VW Polos, NP2OO and 4X4 of any make. Residents are urged to be vigilant.

” Residents are urged to put safety brackets around their gates to prevent would be robers from gaining entry.”

The community is also warned against displaying jewelry, laptops and cellphones when traveling in the Vereeniging CBD as they will be robbed.

Funda reports that police were able to arrest a total of 23 people over the Weekend for various crimes such as possession of drugs, dealing in drugs,  driving under the influence,  shoplifting, possession of suspected stolen property , assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (gbh), theft and malicious damage to property.

All the arrested people have  appeared  at the Vereeniging Magistrate Court.
