Young Juventus team marvel to watch!

VANDERBIJLPARK.-  The young Sebokeng Juventus FC was marvelled to watch when they lost 1-0 defeat to VUT FC at Isak Steyl Stadium over the weekend.

It was a great advert of football when this young and fearless team gave VUT FC run for their money for the better part of the game. At this stage, it looked as if the game would end in 0-0 goalless draw, but it was not to be when VUT FC got a penalty after Juventus defender fouled “The Students” striker inside the box.

Tempos were flying high with Juventus FC felt hard done by the referee and at the end of the game, the referee gave one of the Juventus FC players a red card.  Apart from this, it was a great game of football with the visitors toying around with the home team.

Juventus Head Coach Isaac “Ngamla” Mphasane who is also the club boss is well known for possession football and it came as no surprise when his outplayed VUT FC when it comes to ball possession. Mphasane showed his experience taking the home team from all ankles, playing from the back, middle and final third.

The soccer fans who came to watch the game went home happy with both teams gave them exciting game despite the hit. The game kicked off at 11:00 and it was too hot, but credit must go to both teams because even this scorching sun didn’t affect them.

It was mouth-watering football game with both sides tested each other’s strength in the middle of the park. However, Juventus FC had an upper hand taking into consideration a ball possession percentage. Juventus’s players respect for the ball gave Sedibeng Ster Sport a funny feeling that the ball didn’t want to leave their soccer boots.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, the ‘ever smiling’ Mphasane was happy with the way his young teams played regardless of the outcome of the game. He was pleased with his team’s performance on the day. Despite been the visitors, Juventus FC took the game to their opponents, forced them on the robes with their backs.

“I’m very happy with the way we played, and we could have won this game, but we missed clear cut chances and they got a penalty that decided the outcome of the game. It was a great game of football, and we will take this performance to our next game but this time to be more clinical in front of goals. This is how we want to play football and our way of playing is clear to rotate the ball all over the field starting to play form the back,” he said after the game.

Mphasane is one of the experienced local coaches who made name for himself when he took Swallows to Nedbank Cup Last 32 two years ago before they lost to Maritzburg United.
