Miami Sands residents bay for ELM MMC’s blood

Jones said that the process could take 3 days.

VANDERBIJLPARK. The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) MMC for Public Works, Vincent Jones has said the municipality is not benefiting from the residents of Miami Saint not getting electricity. This was as the angry community bayed for his blood.

Addressing about 30 angry residents who barricaded the gate of the gates of the main building of the municipality, Jones said that he is committed to speeding up the process of returning electricity to Miami Sands, just outside Vanderbijlpark. It is now almost two weeks since the residents have been without electricity following a transformer that was burned out after thieves tried to steal cables from it.

A new transformer has been acquired and is being assembled. Jones said that the process could take 3 days.
Three suspects were arrested by the police for entering the property of the municipality and tampering with the transformer.
