Orlando Pirates have less than a week to prepare for CAF Confederation Cup final

Pirates are under pressure to prepare for the final that is taking place on Friday.

SEDIBENG.- Orlando Pirates have less than a week to prepare for their much anticipated CAF Confederation Cup final against RSB Barkane scheduled to take place at Uyo’s Godwill Akpabio International Stadium in Nigeria this Friday.

Pirates booked their place in the final despite their 1-0 loss to Al Ahli Tripoli in the second leg of the semi-finals on Sunday to progress 2-1 on aggregate.  Ali Ahli gave Pirates a hard time and on two occasions the home team had to be save by VAR to deny the visitors penalties.

It was a great game of football with both teams playing an attacking brand of football for the better part of the game much appreciated by the fans on the stand enjoying each and every moment of the action. Orlando Pirates came into this encounter with 2-0 lead after their first leg win away from home and they were against the wall to protect this 2-0 goals lead. It was not going to be easy for Pirates to defend their 2-0 lead as their opponents had nothing to lose throwing everything at Pirates from the first whistle. Pirates’ defenders were stretched for the better part of the game with Happy Jele judged to have handle the ball in the box but Pirates was saved by VAR in the first half.

As if this was not enough, earlier in the game the referee had to consult VAR to check if  an Al Ahli Tripoli’s player was not faulted inside the box but again VAR saved the home team. Orlando Pirates have reached their third continental final in a decade and their second in the CAF Confederation Cup.
