Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa, is defending the controversial multi-million rand flag project and South Africans are not feeling it.
The flag will stand at the Freedom Park Heritage Site and Museum.
Speaking to eNCA’s JJ Tabane on Tuesday night, the minister said the project is part of his department’s mandate to foster social cohesion.
Mthethwa is facing a growing backlash from South Africans calling for his head on Twitter.
My favourite thing about that Nathi Mthethwa x JJ Tabane interview is that Mthethwa is himself not convinced by the words coming out of his mouth.😭

Boggles the mind that even after initial report of shock at his R22million flag project was reported, Min Nathi Mthethwa still felt it “prudent” to go on tv and try to defend the expenditure.
Who advices our minister?
That interview was never gonna go well.

Nathi Mthethwa has R 22 Million for a flag
Naledi Pandor has R 350 Million for Cuba
The ANC is really spitting on South African tax payers and the Unemployed youth!

Watching Nathi Mthethwa struggle to justify R22 million for a steel pole and a flag was difficult
He must walk amongst us, socialise and explain how a pole and a flag will unite us with land thieves, inspire unemployed and poverty stricken people
Being in the ANC is torture.
