SEBOKENG. – The home belongs to pensioner Maria Ramokgoase (72) who has been badly affected by the incident.
Her daughter Monki Ramokgoase (33) says the incident happened on Tuesday morning.
“We were in the lounge when we heard a loud sound. After a moment I went to the bedroom to inspect where the sound was coming from.
“When I got to my mother’s bedroom I saw a big flame. I was able to save my 2-year-old who was sleeping in the room. I then called my brother who was outside to come and assist along with the neighbours.
“The furniture that was in the two bedrooms has been completely destroyed. Most of our clothes and shoes were burned in the fire. Most of the roof of the house was also damaged.”
An Emfuleni Local Municipality fire truck that was at a nearby petrol station managed to respond and swiftly put the fire out.
Maria says: “We would like to urge anyone in the community to assist us with fixing the house. There is no one working in the house, so we would like to plead for assistance.”
The family is also in need of shoes and clothes for two adults and two girls aged 5 and 10.
Anyone who can help the Ramokhoase family can call Thabang Ramokgoase on 081 310 3623.
