Possible sit-in fails as ELM security locks gates

The Lethabong, Waterdal residents came in big numbers aiming to stage a sit in at the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) offices this week.

SEDIBENG.- This is after they were evicted, through the Red Ants, by the land developer following a Court order that said that they were illegally occupying the land just outside of Sebokeng. It was expected that many of them would stage the sit-in, however, just a handful of them made the trip to Vanderbijlpark led by Noise Masuelle who, with ten members of the group, were allowed to enter the offices to negotiate with the ELM management.

Outside the gates were the residents from Lethabong, Kanana, Sonderwater and K 11 Mateareng. A 78-old-gogo who asked not to be named blamed President Ramaphosa for their situation and said that the money allegedly used for animals in Limpopo could be used to purchase houses or stands for the poor. The meeting went on while the SAPS and security watched those who were left at the gates.
