The Team Cycle Power cyclist clinched the bronze medal, finishing in third place in the 40 km mountain bike race.

Ruan, who finished the race in a time of 1 hour 28 minutes and 2 seconds, was only 4 minutes and 29 seconds down on eventual winner Kasper Kruger (01:23:33) and only 3 minutes and 12 seconds down on the second placed finisher Dirk Nel (01:24:50).

A day earlier he also participated in the 110 km gravel race where he finished in a respectable 26th place, despite getting lost along the way. His finish time: 3:49:58.
