Where are the R 200 paid by evicted communities?

Jonas Masike, commonly known as 'Moholo', a man who the evicted community of Lethabong/Waterdal has fingered as the one they paid R200 for stands has flatly denied this.

SEBOKENG.- Rumours was that he collected R200 cash from each of the disgruntled community members in Lethabong/Waterdal informal squatters to give them the stands to build shacks and house.

Some of the community members, speaking to Sedibeng Ster anonimously said that they were under the impression that their R200 was to buy the land and for protection should anything happen. Moholo did not shy away that the R200 were paid to him by the community, but said that these were not for land or stands. He said that the money was to assist with ‘office paper work’ and also to get people to allocate the ‘buyers’. The other money, he said, was used to buy food for their officials and to travel as they were busy with documents. When asked how many people paid their ‘office’, Moholo responded that it was about 40.

” Most of the community members refused to pay. They erected their shacks during the night as when we woke up in the morning we were welcomed by new shacks,” he said.
