Banyana Banyana vs Tunisia in AWCON quarterfinals

Banyana Banyana will face Tunisia in the quarter-finals of AfricaWomen Africa Cup Of Nations (AWFCON) on Thursday.

SEDIBENG.-  This was after they finished at the top of Group C beating Nigeria 2-1, 3-1 Burundi and 1-0 Botswana in their group stages. It was encouraging performance for Banyana Banyana as they maintained 100% performance in all the games, they played beating Nigeria in the opening stages of the tournament. This was the biggest result for South Africa as Nigeria  are regarded as a powerhouse of African women football.

Banyana Banyana finished their group stages with a 1-0 victory over Botswana on Sunday night to qualify for the quarterfinals. Speaking to media after the game, Banyana Banyana Coach Desiree Ellis was impressed with her team’s overall performance since the tournament started. However, Ellis believes they could have done better in some games especially against Burundi, where they missed lot of chances.

As things stand, Banyana Banyana are red hot favourites the be crowned the African queen if their current performance is anything to go by. To make it interesting, SAFA promised Banyana Banyana bonuses if they reach the quarterfinals and go all the way to be crowned the champions.

No doubt, with the three games they have played, Banyana Banyana look set to go all the way to the final and be crowned the AWFCON champions. The quarterfinal against Tunisia is not going to be easy taking into consideration the history between these nations. This is one game that will test Banyana Banyana character after beating Nigeria. However, many believe that Banyana Banyana have what it takes to beat Tunisia especially after beating Nigeria.
