Seeiso learners sent back home due to construction work

About 1 250 learners of Seeiso Primary School in Bophelongwere returned home even before they could resume their lessons when schools opened today, Tuesday.

BOPHELONG.- The learners arrived from winter holidays only to find their school still under construction, the school is being renovated after serious concerns of structural faults by parents.

School Governing Body (SGB) members demanded an apology from the Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi, and for him to ‘come down ‘and explain what is happening. The school’s Principal Mokhothu said that they were promised 15 containers by the District and that only three containers were delivered.

It is said that the school was closed two weeks before the actual holiday date as the aim was to avoid injuries to the learners. Palesa Matlakala and others members of the School Governing Body (SGB) demanded that the school be closed until the construction work is completed. The construction is said to be its its fifth week.
