Sergeant Maketekete garners more awards

Sergeant Mapaseka ‘Mpase’ Maketekete has won many awards in the past and still collects more.

VANDERBIJLPARK. – Maketekete recently added another award to her trophy shelf after winning an award for Woman of the Year for the Sedibeng District SAPS 2021/2022.

A win in this award category is not her first, in 2018/2019, she won the same award in the entire Gauteng Province.

Maketekete has been in the police force for 13-years and continues to serve her community with pride.

She started working as a police officer enforcing the law and later leveled up  when she became a spokeswoman for several police stations including Boipatong and De Deur Saps.

The dedicated policewoman is now filling the Social Crime Prevention position at her station, and is also a Sign language coordinator at Provincial head office.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, the 37-year-old said she was thrilled to add another award to her batch.

“I am feeling very happy that the love of the Lord is always shining over me. Not only that I am a hard-working cop, I know I deserved that award. I deserve more than awards,” she said.

Maketekete said she will continue to work hard and secure more awards until her shelf can’t accommodate any more.

“I will keep on doing good for the community that I serve. I will always serve with pride. I will make sure that I leave no stones unturned,” she said.
