Fury over gang molestation!

Fuming residents of Eatonside were at loggerheads with families of boys fingered on allegations of gang rape on Monday.

EATONSIDE – Dozens gathered in the streets of area one in dismay after learning that five boys have allegedly molested a 9-year-old after promising him ice cream.

The rage was driven by a discovery made by one of the neighbors, who claimed to have pounced on the gang sodomizing the boy in an abandoned shack on Sunday.

According to the woman, she said she heard the boy crying and went to peep.

When she approached the shack, the five boys aged between 13 and 8-year-old were fleeing the scene. On her arrival, the molested boy was lying on the dusty floor inside the shack, half naked.

The women in her 20s said she immediately called the mother of the victim, who was in Zone 7 at the time.

“When I heard the boy crying, I went to look what was happening and I found the boy scarcely naked. When I asked him what had happened, he told me that the five boys were putting their penis in his anas,” she said.

Speaking from their family home, the saddened mother of the molested boy said “I am devastated. I had to come home to attend this issue. I learnt this wasn’t the first time these boys do this to my son.

“My boy told me they once done this and gave him R4 (four rands). What’s even painful, is seeing the parents of these boys speaking for them,” she said.

Following the incident, the Member of the Mayoral Committer (MMC) for Public Safety Ndade Mokoena was called to the scene for interventions.

Mokoena engaged the families and took the gang to Evaton police station where further investigations were undertaken by Family Violence, Children Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, short for FCS.

“I attended the case and met with all the families. Following my investigation, I then took the boys, together with their mothers and proceeded to a local police station where police did their own investigations,” he said.

Sedibeng District police spokeswoman Constable Thulisile Msibi said a case of rape has since been opened and further investigation are underway.
