BOIPATONG. – Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela reports that the bus was en-route to Vanderbijlpark when a driver of a black Toyota vehicle indicated to the bus driver that the door of the bus was open.

“The bus driver got off the bus to check the door and that is when he was confronted by one of the suspects demanding the bus.

“The suspect threatened the bus driver before forcing him into the vehicle that he and his accomplice were traveling in.”

Maxambela states that the bus driver was later dropped off in Sonlandpark after suspects robbed him off his cellphone .

“The police are now on the hunt for two African males. Anyone with information about the hijacking incident can call Captain Mokgotu on 082 778 7937 or the SAPS crime line on 08600 1011.”

Maxambela urges drivers to be vigilant as hijackings are on the rise in the area.
