150 suspects arrested during operations by Rapid Response Services in Gauteng

total of 150 suspects are due to appear in different Magistrate Courts across Gauteng.

GAUTENG – This is after they were arrested by Rapid Response Services (Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol) when they carried out various concentrated operations and intensive patrols around the province .

The suspects were arrested for different crimes ranging from hijacked, stolen vehicles, possession of firearms and possession of drugs.

Police Spokesperson Captain Pinky Tsinyane says, ” 98 suspects were arrested for drugs, 29 for possession of firearms, 12 for stolen vehicles and 11 for hijacked vehicles.

“Members managed to recover drugs estimated value of R3 200 000, 43 stolen vehicles, 29 hijacked vehicles and 23 firearms.”

Tsinyane urges community members to work closely with police in order to solve problems relating to crime.

“This can be done through establishing a partnership between police and the communities they serve, ensuring effective protection of communities and a better quality of life.”

Tsinyane states that investigations are underway in all cases opened.
