Expired food found in Meyerton warehouse

Investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made after police recovered expired good at a warehouse in Meyerton last week.

MEYERTON.- It is said that on Thursday, Sedibeng CIS unit members received information regarding a warehouse in Meyerton selling expired goods that are re-packaged and expiry dates changed.

SAPS Spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi said that during operation ‘Okae Molao’ the members of CIS together with the Sedibeng members and stakeholders then a formed tactical operation at Lawa Street and that upon their arrival  they searched the premises and found different goods that were expired and the workers busy re-packaging different brands.

” Environmental Health and other stakeholders were called to the scene and confirmed the illegal operations and immediately closed the premises, all products were seized and taken to the Police station.The investigation is ongoing, fines will be issued in due course and no arrests were made,” said Msibi.
