Watch: House robbery suspects arrested following chase by Vereeniging police

It ended in tears for house robbery suspects who were arrested by police after their vehicle lost control and subsequently hit a wall in Vereeniging.

VEREENIGING. – The police in Vereeniging arrested two house robbery suspects after chasing a vehicle implicated in various house robberies.

Police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda reports that members received intelligence about a silver Audi that was used in committing various house robberies in Fochville, Sasolburg and Vanderbijlpark.

Funda says, “At about 15:15 our members who were on patrol spotted the vehicle fitting the description with three occupants inside.

Police followed the vehicle and ordered the driver to stop.

“The driver fled and subsequently lost control of the car and drove into a wall on the corner of Devilliers and Union street.

“Three suspects emerged from the Audi and ran into different directions with one yielding a firearm at police.

“Police apprehended two suspects. On further investigation, a revolver, locked safe and house hold appliances were found in the car.”

Funda confirms that police have launched a case docket for the pointing of a firearm, the unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of suspected stolen house hold appliances.

“Additional charges will be added from Sasolburg, Vanderbijlpark and Fochville as soon as statements are received.”

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Funda said that the success was achieved in conjunction with various stakeholders including private security, community patrollers and tracking companies.

The acting station commander Colonel Fanie Radebe commended  Sergeant Sammy Moloi and Warrant Pietrus Mazibuko for their excellent execution.

“It is our responsibility to make sure that the community feels safe this festive season.”
