
VEREENIGING. – The Sedibeng District Police Commissioner Major General Zodwa Molefe has congratulated over 100 men and women in blue for acquiring new ranks through their hard work and dedication.
About 44 Constables were promoted to Sergeants while 66 Sergeants became Warrant Officers at an event held at the SAPS district offices in Vereeniging last week.
The event started with a parade by the officers who were being honoured on the day.
Addressing the members, Molefe reiterated the importance of commitment in serving and protecting the community.
She further urged members to set a good example for young people who want to become police officers in future.

Molefe reminded the officers of the high crime rate that needed to be combated by them.
“You should be dedicated to fighting crime in the region because criminals don’t care about ranks,” she said.
Molefe reminded the men and women in blue that their role was to be visible in various places and available when called by members of the community.
“Your role is to ensure that criminals have nowhere to hide or go because it’s police duty to protect community members and businesses,” Molefe concludes.
Police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda said promotions were awarded to officers through their excellent service with some having served in their ranks for over 10 years.
