Panyaza on a pothole patching spree

Panyaza says government officials should focus on service delivery.

SEBOKENG – Lengweleng on Wessels Mota Road is known for being the most run-down and pothole filled part on this historic route.

But the newly elected Premier of Gauteng together with the MEC of Roads and Logistics made it a priority that the road gets fixed through Ntirhisano.

On Wednesday, 23, November, 2022, the political heads prioritized Wessels Mota road when they patched all the potholes.

During the visit, Panyaza Lesufi and Kebibone Diale took a walk on this arterial road joining different zones in Sebokeng monitoring the work done by Gauteng Roads department.

Upon their inspection, the entourage made sure the potholes were properly sealed and thar enough material and manpower is theto speed up the process for smoother driving by motorists and a cleaner Vaal.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster on the pothole patching programme and other projects, Lesufi said he is fulfilling his promise he made when he convened a meeting with councilors and mayors last week.

“I convened a meeting last week with councilors and the mayors to plead with them to allow me to make Sedibeng my lab to implement all plans of action set for other regions to begin here. They agreed and today this is why we are here. I am not a talker, I am a door,” he said.

Lesufi said the government can’t let Sedibeng be in ruins while they are in power.

“We cannot let Sedibeng to be in the service delivery headache that they are facing. Roads are full of potholes, running water and sewer spillage is everywhere. We started off by cleaning 11 illegal dumping sites and we closed potholes on this road [Wessels Mota].

These teams will sleep and wake up here. If we don’t deliver our promises, citizens will never believe anything we promise them,” he said.

Lesufi was flanked by the Sedibeng District Municipality Mayor Lerato Maloka.
