Bafana settle for draw against Angola and aim for Nations Cup

It was a rather disappointing performance for Bafana Bafana playing in their own back yard.

SEDIBENG.- Bafana Bafana’s preparations for next year’s African Cup of Nations were tested when they played to a 1-1 draw in an international friendly match against Angola at Mombela Stadium last Sunday.

This was a second international friendly match for Hugo Broos’ boys in a short space of time after their 2-1 victory against Mozambique at the same venue last Thursday. This was not the result that Broos was looking for especially after they beat Mozambique.  Bafana Bafana will return to camp next year in March for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Liberia.

The two international friendlies against Mozambique and Angola served as preparations for the home and away matches against their north African opponents. If they are to win both matches, they will qualify for the tournament in Ivory Coast.

Broos is under pressure to qualify for the African Cup of Nation after he failed to qualify the last time around.
