On Thursday, December 8, 2022, hundreds of mourners gathered at Wessel Church in Zone 3 to send-off the 11-year-old. While many shared their moments with Thobile, scores described the young man as loving and caring.

Speaking to the mourners who filled the church, Sisanda Sango said Thobile was an angel with a smile on his face every time.
“Even though he didn’t do a lot but his presence spoke on its own. Wherever he is, he is smiling, his warm and gaze over us. Let’s accompany Thobile with joy and peace because where ever he is, he is looking over us asking himself why are they crying because when I was with them, I was always smiling? Why are they sad because when I was with them, I was always joyous?” she said.

Thobile’s sister Thoko Madonsela shared a moving tribute for her brother, who she claimed she didn’t do enough to be a good sister to.

“Thobile, why you left me alone life isn’t the same since you gone. I can’t imagine life without you. I know we always fought but it was all for love. I know I wasn’t a good sister, please forgive me. All I wanted was the best for you. I will never forgive myself for not being a good sister to you. God took my brother, friend, backbone and my everything I hope where you are, you are alright, I will miss you and always love you my brother,” she said.
Thobile’s foster father, Apostle Vusimuzi Qwabe accompanied by his siblings shared his last moments he had with Thobile.

Vusimuzi Qwabe, a foster parent to Thobile told the mourners how his son was like any other child, but quick to say sorry.
“Thobile was naughty like any other child, but what made him different is how he quickly apologised when he wronged a person. Thobile was a dreamer and he was not dreaming small. He always told my wife how he will buy her a mansion and buy me a big car,” he added.

Sharing moments between him and his son, Vusimuzi said Thobile will always open the gate for him every evening when he got home.
“I am a soldier by profession, when I was wearing uniform, Thobile would open the gate and salute me before I entered. These are the moments, I will never experience again,” he said.
Vusimuzi thanked his wife, his family, the community and particularly the Ward Councillor, Tumi Mochawe for unending support during his family’s tough time.
