SEDIBENG.- Former Bra Thoms Blackpool FC owner, Molefe Meloa has organized a reunion for former Vaal football’s finest footballers.
The reunion is scheduled to take place at Bra Joe’s in Zone 10 on 18 December. This reunion is for former amateur, semi and professional players who used to entertain local soccer fans with their God given talent.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Meloa said that on the day of the event they will be watching the Qatar World Cup final while reflecting back to the days when Vaal had great amateur football clubs.
He also told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the main aim of this initiative is to look back and reflect, and also look to the future on how best they can help former soccer greats. Meloa said it is sad to see former soccer players struggling, with some of them passing on and without people being aware. He believes this reunion will addresses some of those issues going forward. Meloe was the owner of the now defunct Bra Thomas Blackpool which was formed from Evaton Blackpool. The club had some of the household names in Vaal with the club recruitingthe best players in this region and outside Vaal. Bra Thoms Black Pool made history as the first amateur football club in Vaal to wear the Kappa brand after Kaizer Chiefs.

“I’m very concerned about former players who graced our football, hence I decided to create this platform for them to help each other. These people contributed to the development of our football in this region.
We have created a WhatsApp group and everyone is welcome to join, especially the players who used to entertain soccer fans. We used to have great football clubs that could have represented Vaal in top flight football apart from Vaal Professional, but a lack of financial muscle denied them this opportunity. We must take a leaf from Bloemfontein Celtics supporters for the support they gave to their club before it was sold. Those Bloemfontein people were very jealous about their club,” said Meloa.
