Former ELM Councillor and businessman murdered in Evaton

The man was shot and killed on Wednesday evening.

EVATON – The man known to Sedibeng Ster was shot with a hail of bullets at around 19:00 by unknown suspects near the Levai Mbatha Clinic in Evaton.

According to Gauteng Provincial Police Spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, the deceased was driving with a male occupant when he was killed. Masondo said police have opened a case of murder and are searching for the suspects after the murder of the 58-year-old.

“It is reported that the deceased was driving with a male occupant at the Corner of Eastern and Hamilton Roads in Evaton when they were shot at by unknown suspects. The driver was hit by bullets on the upper body while inside the car and he was certified dead on the scene. The passenger escaped unharmed. The motive for the killing cannot be confirmed at this stage.”

“Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects and are appealing to anyone who might have information that can assist in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspects to call the nearest police station or crime stop on 08600 10111,” said Masondo.
