‘Good Samaritans’ feed the homeless

"We want to help with the little that we have."

SEDIBENG.- The Madiehe  and the Makhethe families rolled their sleeves and helped prepare food for the homeless recently.

These two families gathered at the Vanderbijlpark Library where they gave food to the homeless people on New Year’s eve, 31 December. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Modupi Madiehe and his wife Katleho said that they have been doing this for the past ten years, helping those who are in need. They told Sedibeng Ster that the areas that they are targeting are Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark because there are many homeless people in these areas. To make it interesting the families do this from their own pockets.

“We  do this from our own pockets because we don’t get funding or assistance. We felt it is important for us to help those who don’t have families to cook for them at this time of the year. We all know that at this time of the year  we spend holidays with our loved ones but unfortunately for these homeless people they have no one to cook for them,” they said.

These families revealed to Sedibeng Ster that they are planning to go to Meyerton and Heidelberg to do the same project there for the homeless people.
