ELFA revives Vanderbijlpark Stream for junior league

Zondo hailed last season junior league as great success, thanks to the sponsorship partners who contributed to the success of the grassroots football.

SEDIBENG.- With the Emfuleni Local Football Association’s (ELFA) Super League in full swing, the junior league is expected to kick start in March. This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by ELFA Head of Development, Mastser Zondo.

Zondo urged the teams from all the streams to start preparing for themselves for the kick-off of the new season. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport Zondo said that he expects all the teams to pay their affiliation fee on 28 February including registration of the players. He further told Sedibeng Ster Sport that they will form the new Vanderbijlpark Stream which will consist of Vanderbijlark and Bophelong teams.

In the past teams like Saints FC and Nale Academy were part of the Vanderbijlpark Stream and Zondo said that he is happy to learn that the teams will once again be part of the junior structures. He revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport that Cecil Oldrige Park (COP), otherwise, known as Shakespeare Stadium and Bophelong Stadium will host junior soccer league games in the new season.

“This season we want all the teams in Emfuleni area to be part of our junior league structure and revive some of the streams that were once active in the past. I must say, I’m happy to see teams like Nale Academy back to participate in the junior league because in the past these are some of the teams that made our league what it is today. Look, we can’t ignore their contribution in the development of our football, and I can’t wait to welcome them back,” said Zondo.
